In an enchanting bay on the Amalfi coast, stands the Taverna del Capitano, a landmark for fine food and wine in Campania. It has always been run by Salvatore Caputo and his wife Grazia, an excellent chef, but now the whole family takes care in continuing the culinary history of this fine restaurant. Alfonso, who has inherited a passion for cooking from his mother Grazia, is in the kitchen; Mariella is a sommelier, and son-in-law Claudio sees to the hospitality. The dishes are based on excellent raw materials, and the recipes come from Campania, although they are cleverly revisited in a more contemporary style. Local seafood from the Gulf of Naples and Salerno, organic vegetables, selected meats, and home-made bread and pasta. The chef Alfonso loves to give rein to his creativity and often presents playful imaginative dishes, without losing sight of simplicity and taste, the constant features of his cuisine. The unique style of the Taverna del Capitano is found in blaze of fragrances and flavours that leads guests towards extraordinary sensory enjoyment.
