Wineries are open all over Italy

On Sunday the 27th of May, there will be the 20th Cantine Aperte [Open Wineries]. Conceived by Donatella Cinelli Colombini, a famous Brunello wine producer and founder of the association, Cantine Aperte has become one of the most popular events for those who love good wine. Hundreds of wineries will be open for toastings from 10 am to the evening. Numbers are important: nine hundred wineries took part in the event last year and they hosted more than one million visitors in just one day. Social networks have had an important role for the success of the event since, shortly before and during the event, they exploded with posts, comments, advice and assessments, helping one choose among the numerous proposals and awarding the ones that offered a better quality. The role of the social networks last year was so important that, this year, the event organizers have invited visitors to promote the event by creating a Facebook page dedicated to the competition titled "brinda e posta" [toast and post]. If you create a toast with the words “Cantine Aperte” [Opened Wineries] and “venti anni” [twenty years], post it on the Facebook page with pictures of the toast and the name of the winery where the pictures were taken; you could win a free tasting kit to use next year.
