Italian Cuisine feasts in Hong Kong

From next 2nd  to 7th  November in Hong Kong, an important international meeting dedicated to Italian cuisine will take place. We are speaking about the Italian Cuisine World Summit. The event was promoted by 16 Italian restaurants, 14 of them are located in the ex British colony, one in Macao and the last one in Shenzhen. Even the itchefs-gvci network (the virtual Group of Italian Chefs) contributed to the organization of the event; this association gathers more than 900 professionals (mostly chefs who work in more than 70 countries, but also restaurateurs, catering managers, sommeliers, food & beverage managers, importers, distributors and resellers of food products). On this occasion, 35 great Italian Chefs (most of them Michelin stars) will be present in China, coming from Italy (the majority) as well as from New York, Rio de Janeiro, Moscow and South-Eastern Asia. The chefs will prepare appetizers, lunches and special dinners. They will offer cooking courses and tasting sessions of many quality products offered to the public by the specialties shops located within the Italian pavilion (Vinitaly China) in the Hong Kong International Wine and Spirits Fair (4-6 November). "Real Italian cuisine is good and healthy and that is why it is more and more trendy all over the world,” says Rosario Scarpato, the Summit manager. “And it is not by chance,” continues Scarpato that Italian cuisine is the most appreciated in Asia after local cuisines. Therefore, Hong Kong is an open door to one of the principal markets of the future not only for our cuisine but also for our wines and quality products and this meeting represents a “tribute to Hong Kong and to the public of the new Asian gourmets, an occasion to teach them to better understand the characteristics of Italian Food,” explains Chef Paolo Monti, the main organizer for the event.
The summit will be opened by a gala dinner organized by a group of Piedmont chefs dedicated to white truffles from Alba but, over the next five days, a number of other events will take place. Among the chefs who will take part in the event, there will be Claudio Sadler (Sadler Milan), Philippe Leveille, Enrico Bartolini, Andrea Tonolo, Gaetano Simonato, Marco Sacco, Giovanni Grasso, Igor Macchia, Sergio Vineis and Pier Bussetti. Other important names in the world of Italian cuisine, such as Cesare Casella and Mark Ladner (Del Posto) from New York, Francesco Carli (Rio De Janeiro), Pietro Rongoni (Moscow) will not miss the event.
